OK headphones, crappy cancelling
I recently purchased these headphones during a Woot Off. I hoped to get a pair of headphones to cancel out distractions while I studies. I definitely got what I paid for as these headphones are lightweight, comfortable, and awful at noise cancellation. When the noise canceling feature is turned on, the volume of the primary signal dramatically decreases. Also, when there is any bass being played the headphones send out an annoying low pulsing that hurts my ears.
Overall if you are looking for headphones these are okay, but if you're looking for noise cancellation, pay for a really good pair.

THE BEST SOUNDING HEADPHONES THAT I HAVE EVER HEARD!
RCA Products including headphones have always been first choice for me. When I shopped on Amazon for noise cancelling headphones and discovered this set, I ordered them. These headphones I am using for:
1) My laptop headset (at home and for travel).
2) MY MP3 Player and also CD Player (at home and travel).
3) As noise cancelling headphones for home and travel.
The sound both bass and treble is just astounding and this set of headphones reaches the very highs and lows and I am delighted.
This is what this set comes with:
1) The headphones themselves are foldable (like a pair of glasses). This is ideal for travel. In addition, the come with a black nylong travel bag.
2) An airplane adapter
3) The headset has a volume control that is from MUTE (no sound at all) to VERY LOUD. Even the person with limited hearing can hear these headphones because they reach a VERY HIGH volume.
4) On the volume box is also the noise cancelling button. In order to use this feature, an AAA battery must be inserted (not included with the headphones). The noise cancelling feature can be turned off when not needed in order to save on the batteries. *Note that I travel with foam earplugs to keep the outside noise out and I have only needed the noise cancelling feature a couple of times. However, when I used this noise cancelling feature, it worked OK, however, it only reduces the outside noise by about 11 decibels, but this helps in an AIRPLANE situation. The best thing to do is use the foam earplugs and turn the volume up. Note that these or ANY OPEN AIR headphones will be heard somewhat by your nearby traveler. So you may wish to keep the volume down as not to disturb your fellow traveler.
The reason that I am rating these headphone so high (5 stars):
1) The sound quality is the best I have heard on ANY lightweight travel style headphones with the rich bass and lovley treble. I am a music buff and also a audio book buff so this is very important to me.
2) They fold flat and have a case for travel. I leave one set in my laptop carrier pocket and one next to my nightstand, another next to my desktop computer. Then I can have a set wherever needed.
3) The volume control from MUTE to LOUD and it is located on a easy to use built in remote right on the headset cord. The noise cancel feature is also located on the "remote control".
4) The cord is long enough for me to use with my large CD/MP3 player next to my bed. And the fact that it has the volumne control on the cord is so useful when I am listening to audio books or music etc.
5) The last reason is that RCA headphones have always had a deep and rich sound. And they are just plain comfortable. *This is the BEST set of RCA headphones that I have ever used. In fact, I just bought 3 more tonight from Amazon to have for gifts for friends. Thanks RCA and of course, Amazon!
