Customers Reviews 2009-11-08 Great mini tripod for on-the-go photography I love taking photos everywhere I go. With emphasis on 'go'. I bought a great camera that is still relatively pocket-sized because I want to take great pictures without having to lug something around my neck. This little tripod has been very useful.
First, it is small, and it fits in my pocket without feeling bulky (unlike my camera). Of course, there are several other mini tripods that are small. But this one is by far my favorite.
I love the flexibility of the three legs. It is not loose at all, so it doesn't slouch under the weight of my camera (which, along with the body, has 4 AA batteries, so it's fairly heavy). They can even twist around a branch and hold the camera up. Other mini tripods have hard legs that can extend an inch, but I find those relatively useless. If you need the camera to go down an inch or two, you can bend the legs so they aren't straight.
The knobs on the end are rubber and give good grip on uneven and rough surfaces. They are held on by being slightly stretched around the end of the legs, though, which means they can come off somewhat easily if they catch on something (not sure if this is a feature or not).
This mini tripod is also very well priced. I bought it solely to get free shipping on another $20 or so item, thinking I might use it once or twice. But I have used it on many occasions.
Pros: Small; flexible but not loose; Good grip on most surfaces
Cons: Rubber ends are not held on as tightly as they should be | 2009-10-28 Great product Unlike rival products that look similar, this one is just the right size.
Also, the legs do not develop bend "memory" so that they are easy to manipulate into different bends and then straighten them out again so you can use it has a handle.
It's the perfect size for my hand and makes it easy to hold my small video camera very steady with one hand. | 2009-09-10 nice, could be better It is nice little tripod. Very small and compact. It stands fairly well on its own. It grips some things but not a whole lot. It doesn't always hold its position when I set it up on an uneven surface, but it does work for some things. Overall, not great, but good. | 2009-08-29 Take two--they're small. As predicted in my review of the Sunpak tripod, currently outselling this one on Amazon and at a lower price, this item was too small to remain with me for any length of time. All the same, it's cheap enough and sufficiently useful to warrant an encore. It attaches to a personal audio recorder (Zoom H2), a point and shoot camera (Canon SD780), and videocam (Flip) with no problems whatsoever. So whether your objective is steadier shots, better sound isolation, or self-portraits, this is a handy item to have on hand (though I haven't found the flexible legs to be particularly useful).
As for the different brands and prices of these curious creatures, may as well ignore them. They're all the same, regardless of brand, and if you compare the ones that come postage-free with those that don't, you're likely to discover that they all cost about the same.
After losing the first one within the first two weeks, I've become more conscious of the pocket clip that's attached to the tripod. Unfortunately, it's a bit too loose to remain attached to the owner's shirt pocket--but it's the right idea. | 2009-06-14 Mini Tripod works with both my digital camera & my Flip Camcorder Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3VOZMIUJ27UUH This is my quick video review of this mini-tripod which I bought from Thememstore here on Amazon. It looks exactly like the one pictured here on Amazon as the "Vanguard VS41 Flexible MiniTripod" but the box says "Vidpro" and there is no logo branding on the tripod itself. Great super cheap price but it doesn't feel cheap. It's worth buying. | |
