Hi all,
I have a color lab and I am already using some software for photo editing but I am suffering so many problems so I decided to purchase latest software that fulfills my all requirements. Actually I want great enhancement and optimization for digital images.
Advice will be appreciated.

I think there is nothing better than Photoshop when it goes to photo editing.

Photoshop is awesome. I also Use photoshop lightroom2. That has less options in terms of graphic art but it allows you to edit the photo and correct things with ease. Little different to use at first but once you get a hold of it, Its so fast and easy.

Lightroom is cool but I prefer Camera Raw (goes with Photoshop), it's more handy for me, I like the design and Clarity function (so unusual soft blur or hard sharp effect).

Do somebody use Neat Image for noise reduction? I've got the soft but can't really understand how to achieve the best results.

I use noise ninja for noise reduction. very happy with it.

If you are not tied to photoshop plugins, I would suggest The GIMP. It's open source freeware that has much of the same functionality as photoshop (very comprehensive). I don't use it myself because I have photoshop plugins, which don't work with it. But it's free, so it's worth a try.

Photoshop, but it is rather expensive. As an alternative you can use Elements, its good and is less expensive.

You've been watching too much CSI.
The amount of detail which can be viewed by zooming in depends on the resolution of the camera taking the picture and the resolution of the saved image on the computer.
The resolution is determined by the number of pixels per inch.
A program can only display and work with the resolution present in the photo. When zooming in the pixels are enlarged, they are not added to.
A photo measuring 200 x 200 pixels when zoomed in on would still be 200 x 200 but larger pixels.
If the detail is not present there is nothing for a program to enhance.

Ever wonder why those pics of wanted criminals on TV from CCTV security cameras are often blurred and fuzzy? They're supplied by real forensic officers. It would be easier to identify the crims if the pics were sharp and clear but it can't be done.
Unless of course you're Gil Grissom......

I agree with the problem of small resolution of digital cameras. But the progress goes ahead :)) though such cameras are rather expensive.

But I wanted to say.. when CSI enlarges the image it doubles the nearby pixels. but the program doesn't know the exact tone of each new pixel, so the image looses its sharpness and details. I mean pixels don't become larger they are simply doubled.
