Here's a silhouette I did this evening of my son Andre in the recording studio working on his latest song he wrote. You can hear his music at http://www.myspace.com/andrelongtin04 _________________ There's only one YOU so make it count!

Chief, first off, let me say that I am a huge fan of your work!
This one, I like the colors in the background, and I love the way you've got the rectangle tilited, but, I think it might be cropped a little bit too tight. It doesn't feel like there's enough background to really set off the silhouette. |

Thanks Trisha for your honest opinion. The studio is very small and tight to start with so even with the widest lens I had I coulnd't get much more than this. I have to agree with you about the tightness of the crop and I may try to PS some more lighting into the backside of his head. _________________ There's only one YOU so make it count!

Chief, I love your pic (as usual), but I tried something to make the silouette pop a little more - at least on my monitor it does.
Take a peek . . . . . |

Thanks Denise - I like the background colour and and texture you used. By enhancing the silhouette as much as you did has created some noise in it (on my monitor) so I'm not so sure I would push it that far.
Always appreciate any suggestions!

Here's a little different angle with a better silhouette but it has a slight motion blur due to low light and slower shutter speed. _________________ There's only one YOU so make it count!

The original shot is still my favorite. My mind interprets the shilouette of the face as a distortion of the shadow on the right. As such I am not bothered by the prominent dark area. It balances well with the brighter and colorful space on the left. There is enough counter weight so that the shot as a whole works well for me.
The choice of cropping angle also tells me something meaningful. It is dynamic, suggests motion and grabs my attention.
Well done, Guy!
