it is about rating the subject. For example, I entered a bloom for anything Goes. it is a beautiful photo of the bloom. There is nothing wrong with the subject.
rating it as low as 7 is beyond my comprehension. How does one rate the subject?
I can understand how one can rate the technique.
I would ppreciate a feedback.
Thanks

Sorry about hijacking your thread... I guess the first few posts say it all... There is no rhyme or reason for how some photos are voted in the contests. Excellent photos are often outscored by mediocre ones. There are some perfect examples of this in the recently finished contests. It becomes obvious that the voting is not really based on the technical quality. And, since the subject is so hevily weighted in the contests it becomes the real determining factor in the photo' s placement among the participants. If you want a ginuine apraisal about a particular photo post it here in the forum. There are several people here that will give you some honest input... And you'll probably even get a couple of "hey dude cool shot"s.
Hope that helps.

Gid'day from the Ottawa Valley
OK folks, I'm back. Had a major crash with my computer and had to go out and buy a new one. Luckly for me my photos were stored on a secondary hard drive and I didn't loose any of them.
So now I'm busy loading everything up in my new computer and hopefully will be posting again real soon.
Hope you all had a very good Christmas and I'm sure the New Year will bring Health, Wealth and Happiness to all.
