I have recently read much about SmugMug.com photo sharing service. Yes they have a great website with a professional interface. But I could not find anything special about their services - Flickr has the same functionality and it is FREE. And smugmug charges you:
Subscription
Standard - $39.95/year
Power User - $59.95/year
Pro - $149.95/year
It is a secret for me how it succeeds to have over 100,000 paying customers, be a private company and stay all the time profitable.
How do they do it? |

I'm not familiar with this website, but if so many people are ready to pay $40 annually, there must be something about it that makes it stand out from lots of free photo sharing services.
As for me, i'm not going to pay such money - i'm quite satisfied with free photo websites. |

| yes, they have a great website interface, but i guess they have much money to burn for advertising, otherwise they will not have so many paying customers. |
