We have modified the voting system.
Now, if you think that the photo deserves 1 or 2 score, you need to write a comment with some clarifications. It should be an adequate piece of criticism that aims to improve the photo.
It's also about the fact that when we are trying to understand why we don't like the photo, it helps us to shape our individual outlook to photography and not to make the same mistakes in future. |

| I think having to put a comment when you give a low score is a good idea, because it forces the voter to stop and figure out why he/she isn't crazy about a particular picture or what exact feature they don't like. |

this is great. I've given a 1 once when the photo CLEARLY went against the contest description but have received as low as a 2. There was a comment with that one, but I don't know if it was from the 2 vote. the comment didn't seem to justify a 2. So having a comment with the low vote is a good idea. _________________ http://www.flickr.com/photos/memento/

| Great addition, I'm always open to constructive criticism. This might also help curb future misunderstandings. |

Thanks! I hope that will be helpful both for authors and commenting users. longing the next contest to finish to see how it works. I've put several 2s and hope nobody will understand my comments wrong, so will I. _________________ my photos are O.K. to edit |

| Anybody with an account can vote. Just click the "Cast your vote" button on an active contest, and you'll get a page with every picture in the contest. Click on one, and you'll be able to link to each picture in the contest with a bunch of numbers on top. "Voting" pretty much comes down to rating each picture (1-5 on technique, 1-10 on subject), so you don't need to worry about which one you start out with. |
