| It bugs the crap out of me because I can't remember what pictures have been submitted in contests and by accident I submit a picture that has already been submitted to a contest. Also I hate the rule that a photo can't be submitted in more than one contest. I think if the picture has won a 1st 2nd or 3rd in a contest it shouldn't be submitted again. |

My suggestion is to everyone starting a contest, allow for lots of time. What's the rush, the point is to have people go out and take new photos instead of submitting the same old ones. Leave lots of time to do so and you'll see more entries. For people like me, suffering from a lack of creativity, it takes contests like these to get me thinking.

Chris, How much is "lots" of time?
Once you have entered a photograph in a contest here you can not enter it again. It doesn't matter if it won or lost. Duplicate entries get disqualified.

| Depending on the subject, I usually try and give people at least a month to go out and take photos, understanding that we have members from around the world and seasons that differ from one location to another. A perfect example of this is the current spring contest. When it first opened, out here, we still had full winter conditions. I didn't mean to imply only photos that have been entered twice but also photos we've had a long time. Nothing wrong with entering those, but with the added time, people can have an opportunity to take photos if they have none matching the contest subject and if they do, improve on them whenever possible. |
