Himself, that's great!!!
And thank you very much for the links, there are so many cool textures! Now I need to use some paper textures for my friend's wedding card. I also like to work with them, it's a real miracle how the image can be changed. For example, your mill.. the effect fits perfectly!
TJRusso, I see... but what about photo collages? I think it depends on the expected result - to change an image or not... _________________ my photos are O.K. to edit |

I actually don't have Adobe Photoshop; I have Jasc Paint Shop Pro, but I'm assuming this thread is actually about image manipulation and not the specific software.
I have no problem with image manipulation when it's clear that that is the intention of the work OR there is a good reason for using it. I use it to correct lens defects such as distortion, color fringing, and light fall-off, and of course cropping and re-sizing.
But I also love to just play and do crazy artsy things, too. I guess it's just all about being honest. Don't say the image isn't manipulated if it is. |

Yeah, it's wrong and shamefully to claim edited image as an original _________________ my photos are O.K. to edit |

I honestly depend on photoshop. I used to be a purist and never use it other than to rotate and crop. In a perfect world we would know all the white balances, all proper settings, be a lighting master, and have the greatest timing in the world. Digital cameras especially tend to exaggerate highlights and blacks. If your subject is a still life then you had better take the time to set it up how you want it.
The reality is different. Say for example you are shooting a wedding with a D200 where there are No preset shooting modes. The shot has come and gone but you slightly over exposed because Brides tend to move. It needs to be corrected. Plain and simple. People have zits, scars, bruises, anything that they don't want in photos. People don't pay money to see themselves as who they really are. They want to look as good as possible and if you want to Make money with photography my suggestion is learn how to do this. There are ways to just fix blemishes and still have people look real too.
Unfortunately in this day and age you can't be all one sided on any issue for photography. Yes it is faster and better to do the work with the camera but stuff happens and if you don't know how to fix it you lose. Its like the debate of what is more important, the camera or the person holding it. You can argue either side til you are blue in the face but the facts are simple... If you can take a good photo with any camera that is awesome. The better the camera, The higher the quality of the photo.
If you are at a life changing event and all you have is a camera phone, I guess its better to have a poor quality photo than none at all. I try to maintain integrity with my photos and not give way to complete graphic arts. _________________ Just remember, Where ever you are...There ya go. |

yes... what concerns weddings and some events like this - Photoshop is a must. though I think that it can hardly help if the photos are really bad. _________________ my photos are O.K. to edit |
