| Nude photos are, as far as I'm concerned, completely disallowed here. Unfortunately, it's hard to keep track of what gets put into the gallery, and even then, gallery pictures aren't deletable for moderators. |
Not being able to delete photos from the gallery seems like risky business to me. This whole situation could get interesting. lol _________________ -- |

It's actually an easy situation to fix.
Tell the members to remove any adult/nude photographs from their galleries. If they don't then Administration can go in and do it. |

I saw a contest, and I entered it. I didn't actually realize it was forbidden. Its not something I have done very much of, but I had something i could enter, so I did. But I completely agree that rules are rules, and I have removed them myself. My apologies to anyone it offended.
I do believe nudes can and usually are handled in an artistic way on sites like this. HOWEVER, any site has the right to set parameters and guidelines. Its normal and its acceptable. It did not occur to me that it would be a problem and seeing the contest just seemed like business as usual. I didn't think my images were offensive, but this sort of thing lies in the eye of the beholder, so hopefully no damage was done.
I hope anyone who was offended will forgive me for the oversight and for not knowing the rules. At any rate, the photos are gone and I hope that is an acceptable way to make amends. Thanks. _________________ randy.keller@yahoo.com |

I don't see where anyone called nude photography "Porn".
This website is open to the public. Children have acess to it.
The rules state, "We reserve the right to refuse to accept certain photos and pictures. Adult photos are rejected." Nude photography falls under Adult photos. |

Seems to me that even though we may make too big a deal about nudity - especially in photography - the spirit of this particular website is not served by allowing it. A site has the right, I would think, to determine its own boundaries. Which is why it behooves us to cooperate as soon as we are in violation. It doesn't matter whether nude photography is in good taste or artistic - the site's parameters have excluded it. And regardless of how liberal we may be (and I am one of those flaming liberals) nudity is not something our society deems appropriate for chlldren. There are all sorts of sites out there which allow nude photos as part of their stock, so its not like there are not opportunities.
I think its an interesting discussion, and worth the effort to do so, but the bottom line is that THIS site obviously wants to control the issue for whatever reason(s), and thats acceptable. I also have a site that includes other photographers displaying their work, and I choose not to prevent nudity. We all have a right to set limits personally, and website operators do as well.
Its all good. And I'm not bothered by this restriction at all. _________________ randy.keller@yahoo.com |

If someone is worried about children having access to porn on the internet..this website should be the least of their worries. _________________ -- |

I don't think its about porn. I think its about little johnnie or sallie walking into the room and looking over mommy or daddy's shoulder at the naked person. Maybe its not the right time for "that conversation" or maybe they just would rather not have the kid exposed. Maybe they share the experience with the kid, and the sight of nude would put a damper on things. You know, maybe they look at the work together.
I have 6 kids - five of them are daughters, and 4 of those are all grown up, but whenever a sex scene comes in a movie we might be watching together, we ALL get a little embarrassed. Maybe we shouldn't. who knows. But thats what happens.
Don't misunderstand me... its hardly about passing judgement on nude photography. Remember, I'm the one who entered the contest, so I actually had something to enter, and they weren't exactly... demur... LOL And personally, I'm not bothered by it on any site. But its kinda like smoking. If someone says "not in my house" ya gotta respect that. No? (I left myself open for someone to say "smoking is dangerous, nuduty is natural, but I'm sure you kow what I'm getting at.)
If they wanna change the rules here, its okay with me. Buts also okay with me as is... _________________ randy.keller@yahoo.com |

As for me, I think that there is a great artistic power in nude works. Remember the great masters of the Renaissance, whose works reveal the beauty of human body. Finally, we are the part of nature, and nature can't be ugly. It's a man who can spoil it.
So there is a very thin line between artistic and abusing nudity, which not every adult can find. So for children it's twice hard. I think first a child should be taught by their parents with the help of the great masters' reproductions.
... 'cause I really can't stand when the photo gets high marks only for the nude model on it. _________________ my photos are O.K. to edit |
