Just wondering if anyone else thinks we should be allowed to enter a picture into more than one contest if it didn't place first, second, or third. I think some pictures get ignored in contests if they don't win, so they should get another chance to be seen in other contests. It's not like a picture will be a threat to others, because it hasn't won. yet. A picture can be really great but just not put in the right contest yet, so I think it'll be good to give it another shot. Let me know what you guys all think. Just an opinion. Thanks

Stef,
I think it's okay to enter the same photo twice if it hasn't won in a previous contest. But I don't think you're supposed to enter one that has won or placed, although I have seen several show up more than once so I could be wrong about that. Maybe someone who knows the official rules will chime in. I agree with you though, I don't see a problem with resubmitting a photo that hasn't won before.

| Thanks for agreeing, and that's how I thought the rules were also, but a lot of my pictures that haven't won were disqualified in contests recently. So you're right, someone will probably inform us soon. |

I disagree... Allowing the same picture to be entered in more then one contest would really get boring cause your looking at the same pictures over and over... Allowing a picture to only be enetered once make for more of a challange.. Even if the picture didnt win 1st 2nd or 3rd, i dont think it should be allowed to be entered again!! We are all into photography, challange yourself and take new pics before you try and enter the same pic again..
Pictures can usually fit multiple contest themes..... I like that this rule really makes you think, is this the picture i want in this catagory.. Or should i save it for another one that it would fit better in...... |

The official rules are that a picture can't be put into more than one contest. As Heatherlynne said, if the rule wasn't there, we'd possibly be seeing the same pictures again and again and again...and again.
At the same time, some pictures do go through a contest unnoticed and unappreciated, and probably deserve second chances.
If we were to change the rules, then, we'd have to find some sort of way to determine what's overused and what's not. It wouldn't be impossible...just hard. The biggest thing would be that members would have to be mindful of other members - the problems we get into are based off of people with differeing opinions butting heads.
Any other thoughts, ideas, suggestions? |

| Alright, I see what everyone is saying, but I doubt that any of us will continuously post the same picture over and over again. Anyway, people would stop voting for it if someone did that, but no one even will.. |

At the moment I think that it would be better to share one's "unnoticed" photo on our forum.
It's rather difficult to watch if a photo is used once or twice. But I agree with Himself: it would be very, very hard to count if it's used two or three times. And where is the limit? |

A photo just showed up on the Home page "Hall of Fame" box that is currently entered in a contest (Blue). ???? Premonition I guess. lol

| Seems like most people are against my opinion, so I guess no change in the rules for now.. I just figured there would be more submissions in the contest since I noticed a lack of participation in more and more contests. Also, if I take two very very similar pictures and submit them into two different contests, then how are people supposed to know that they're different? They can be two different files that just look almost identical. Where's the judgement on that? |
