I use a tripod all the time... I think that it is an essential thing for ANY photographer to have, use and master! Tripod's are great! You can do self pic's, steady the shot, and they come in very handy when trying to get a shot with a slow shutter speed! I highly recommend them to any!!! I have a few different size ones... My fav is the one that will fit snuggly inside my camera bag.. ... Always have it with me and its so easy to set up!

I wouldn't be without one. And don't buy a cheap one either. I carry a Manfrotto tripod whenever I'm out in the field. Also let us not forget the monopod - they double as a great walking stick and are real handy when shooting wiht long lens in confined spaces. I like the monopod for museums as most don't allow flash photography and to try and set up a tripod in a busy museum is a real pain!
Want great DOF?? Use your tripod and slow your shutter speed down!
That's my .02 cents worth! _________________ There's only one YOU so make it count!

I try always to take a tripod. A photographer can't go without this tool, i use it for portratits, landscapes, still life. That is the only way to prevent blur in your shots i think.

I still don't have a tripod, though i'm sure it is a very useful thing. Instead, i put my cam on a steady surface, especially when i shoot at long exposure.

I have a tripod, though i'm not quite satisfied with it. It is not very steady, it doesn't help much. I agree with Chieflong, it is better to buy a good tripod.

Do you use a tripod?Ok, the poll is closed and let us sum up the results.
Never - 31 %
Only, when I need it - 31 %
Always - 25 %
When convenient - 6 %
What's it? - 6 %
To tell the truth I was surprised with such results. A tripod is one of the most important tools for a photographer and only 25 % of shotaddict guests do ALWAYS use it. But it is even more sad that 31 % don't use a tripod at all. We have some good articles in our blog, that give an indepth information about a tripod and its usefulness. Hope they help aspiring photographers understand the importance of this tool:
