yes, certainly the subject should fit the contest.

but in my opinion it also should tell a kind of a story. great shots catch your eye and make you stare at them for some time - that sort of images deserve the top rate for the subject.

I think that these two articles may help our members to judge photos.

though i am a sort of a lurker who prefers to cast votes and not enter his photos into contests often (just occasionally) i find the new rules much improved.

the only thing i think most members do not like it is the fact that the old stats got affected - but there should be a few guys that improved their stats as a result of this move.

I guess I really dont like the new voting system....... The whole take your score and divide it by the number of votes you have dosent seem fair to me... Someone that has 7 votes can end up dead last while someone with only two votes can come in first. I dont think that is fair at all.. I think for the new system to truely be affective, then everyone needs to vote on every picture in a contest. And well thats not being done. It feels to me that in order to win you cant have any votes.. Ya gotta put ur pic up and hope no one votes on it just to win!

I have to agree somewhat with Heather Lynn with regard to voting on all photos. The other thing I would like to see is NOT being able to vote on your own work. I noticed the other day that someone went in and voted all photos 5 and 10 - well that person has gained nothing by doing this! Another thing would be to hide the votes from others until the competition closes, this would deter someone from deliberatly scoring a photo lower so as to advance ones own work. This is a great friendly site and I would hate to see people leave because of a scoring issue. Keep up the great work here! Guy

Here's another thought - drop one highest and one lowest score to help keep things a level playing field - then average the score.
