Submission

You should register (it's free) to enter any of our current contests or cast a vote.

We reserve the right to refuse to accept certain photos and pictures. Adult photos are rejected.

No e-mail submissions are accepted.

First you should download the photos to Photo Galleries (the image quality will remain the same if its size is no more than 640px x 427px. If it's larger the site engine will resize it with some quality loss). When you enter a contest you will be prompted to select an image for the challenge submission from the images you have downloaded to Photo Galleries. Entries must be made between the dates indicated at our website as the submission dates. Contestants hereby confirm that they do not violate any copyright laws.

All submitted pictures remain the property of the photographers who submit them. We have the right to display the pictures at our website only.

Picture requirements:

made with a digital camera,
file format .jpeg,
file size under 250KB,
width above 400 pixels

You can edit image descriptions and delete pictures added to the contests here

We ask you to remember to complete your photographer profile once you join our web site community.

We have a limit of two images each member is eligible to submit per contest.

IMPORTANT: Community members who have participated in 5 and more contests are eligible to start their own contests on our website. You can do it on My Contests page. Once you are an advanced user you will be able to start your own advanced contests after you join five advanced contests.

IMPORTANT: Our photo challenges is NOT the appropriate place to enter your 'family album' images (pictures that are of some value just for your friends and relatives). You are welcome to store this sort of pictures in Photo Galleries

Amateur vs. Advanced Membership

Our photo contests have two levels: BASIC and ADVANCED. All our website members can join basic photo contests. It is a kind of photo contests for beginners.

Your membership is automatically updated to ADVANCED once you meet the below requirements:

the user should be registered longer than 3 months
the user should start min 15 contests;
the user should win (1st-3rd place) min 5 contests;
the user should have min 2 photos won the 1st place;
the user should be an active photo forum member (min 20 posts)

Voting & Comments

Voting (and commenting) process starts once the submission period is over and ends by the set deadline. Only registered members can participate in voting and add their comments. All results are displayed at the website.

We reserve the right to remove the pictures in the process of the submission or voting period without any prior notice.

Feel free to contact us with your comments or ideas on how to make our service better.

In case you get some rude comments, notice images that have been entered to our photo contests before (it is NOT allowed), get into any other sort of contest rules violations you can use 'abuse alert' button

on that page to let the website administration know of this. We will ban from the website those members who will repeatedly break the rules.

Scoring system

There are two weighted scores to vote for:

- PHOTO TECHNIQUE - you critique a photo from a few technical points (focus, exposure, lighting, composition) - (points 1-5, lowest-highest)
- PHOTO SUBJECT - DOES IT TELL A STORY? (points 1-10, lowest-highest)

All votes will be averaged and the winner will be the person with the highest number of points.

Winners

The best pictures are those that get the highest score from the community members. They will get a prominent place on the pages of Shotaddict.com website as winners and be added to our ‘Hall of Fame’. We (shotaddict.com team) are not professionals, but would like to become ones. So, let’s join our efforts to achieve our common goal.

User Bans

The User is banned after 3 warnings received within a 3 month period.

A warning is given if:

the user is noticed to play our system to win a contest (lowballing, registering a number of accounts to vote many times and so on);
the user behaves rudely, offends other users or starts personalizing;
the user ignores moderator's notices.
